HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SAVE A LIFE?
It is very dependent on what materials are going to be integrated into the project and how much editing is required. The prices below will give you an idea of our rates on commodity like portions of the process. However, there is very little direct relationship between editing time and finished length of a video. We could spend 100 hours editing a 10 minute movie-like trailer of your life or we could spend 10 hours editing a 2 hr personal biography. If you call us, we can guide you through the pre-production process in order to make the most efficient and cost effective use of your time.

  • Digitizing is billed by the piece ($1.00-$2.00 per piece) depending on quantities. If you supply images on photo cd's or electronic media, there is a .50 charge for image handling, cropping and color correction unless there is none required. Then there is no charge.
  • Editing is preferably performed with you present. If you give us permission to edit without you and for some reason you don't like the outcome through no fault of our own, you will be charged for corrections. If it is our fault there is no charge.
  • Editing is billed to the next nearest quarter hour.
  • If you require the assistance of one of our Producers for pre-production purposes, the hourly rate is $75 per hour.
  • Depending upon the amount of video footage you have, we may recommend digitizing all of your tapes and time coding the footage because it gives us editing control to 1/60th of a second and makes changes fast and easy. Time-coded tape transfers are $1/minute of running time. Time code is a digital clock which you can view on your tv while the video is playing. It gives you a way of exactly noting which footage you want to use and which footage you don't want. We call this a "paper edit," because once upon a time the time code notes were written on paper.
  • We no longer do movie film transfers. However, we have referral sources that we can recommend.
  • Payment is due at the time of service, unless consecutive editing days are booked, in which case payment is due after the last edit session. We accept cash, personal checks, Visa and Mastercard and all balances must be paid before copies are released.
